4Front Atlantic Conference

About 4Front 2011: Why

In 2011, the world economy was at a pivot point. Battered by a global financial crisis and recession, it was a time of change. And a time of opportunity, but only for those who recognized the new global trends, could mobilize their communities for change, and could learn to compete differently to win in a new global economy.

The 4Front conference was designed to position Atlantic Canada as a leader in navigating the new economic landscape. A private sector led conference, supported by university leaders and sponsored by McInnis Cooper and BMO Financial Group, the inaugural conference was attended by over 200 Atlantic Canadian leaders. It focused on crystallizing the latest risks and opportunities for Atlantic Canada and led to a better understanding of the Atlantic Canada “balance sheet”. We analyzed our current strengths and weaknesses; our prospective opportunities and future threats; considered how to create an Atlantic Canadian “brand” in new and emerging markets; and discussed how to move Atlantic Canada up the “value added curve” in the products and services we sell in the global marketplace.
