Cathy Bennett is CEO and owner of Bennett Group of Companies, a dynamic integrated force of Atlantic Canadian firms. The services of the Bennett Group range from industrial, commercial, and residential construction and fabrication to recruitment, turnkey executive office solutions, and restaurants.
Because of her success, Ms. Bennett is a recognized leader in the Canadian and Newfoundland and Labrador business community. She is Treasurer of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, a Governor on the Board of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council, and serves on the boards of the Shaw Group of Companies, Bell Aliant, and the New Millennium Iron Ore Corp. Ms. Bennett is a member of the St. John’s Board of Trade Labour Market Task Force.
Formerly she served as Director and chair of Nalcor Energy and Director of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. She was President of the St. John’s Board of Trade. She served as a Director of the NL Business Coalition and she was a member of the Labour Market Committee. Ms. Bennett also served as Director with the Atlantic Provinces Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of both the Business Advisory Group of Memorial University’s Faculty of Business and the Advisory Board for The Learning Partnership.
A strong supporter of locally-focused humanitarian efforts, Cathy has devoted significant personal and corporate resources to more than 100 non-profit organizations, including service as vice-chair of Ronald McDonald House NL, and chair of the Ronald McDonald House Capital Campaign. She served as a Director of the Festival 500 Board and chaired St. John’s Clean and Beautiful.
Ms. Bennett’s leadership in business and in the community is widely recognized by her peers. Among her most recent awards are Top Atlantic CEO; Employer of the Year; and Top 50 Women of Canadian Influence.
She and her husband Doug live in St. John’s with their two children, Cameron and Liam.
